Hello everyone! This will be my first post on this forum!!! I got bored and decided to do a little paint scheme project for my rims. Hope you like em. ***Disclaimer-No painting was taken place inside. They rims were painted outside and then brought in to dry.***
So first I wet sanded the wheels down, cleaned them very good, protected the tires and sprayed them down with rustoleum high heat ultra paint.
Next I masked off the areas I did not want to paint.
Painted non masked portion.
Remove tape and masking
Allow to dry overnight
Mounting the final product. You can see I used to just have them painted straight black.
I would NOT have the patience for that. Not really my style, but like eglove said, kudos on the work involved. Now you just need some other green pieces on the car to tie it together.
I originally had the lug nuts painted green, but it was just waaaaaaaaaay too much. A little green goes a long way. As for more green I plan on doing the spoiler, mirror covers, calipers, and st/ford logo in green too. Then my little project will be done for cosmetics. Next come a tune.
Everyone has their own look in mind, and I think "to each their own" applies here, so instead of commenting on what you think of the design, comment on the work and quality. Just a thought.
Thank you to all who complimented my work. As to those that didn't. I understand that not everyone will like this. We all have different tastes. I wasn't trying to appease the masses. I did this because I like it, and frankly isn't it nice to see someone deviate from the sea of cookie cutter black plasti dip rims? (Not just talking about ST's, every car seems to have plasti dip rims now-a-days)
I don't think I personally would do it, but it does look pretty cool. I've been trying to figure out a unique way to paint the wheels, and that pattern might be it.
I may do a pin stripe on the outside of the wheel to bring the star pattern out more. Seeing that I have a tb st other colors have to be used, but if I had any other color I would color match the "inserts".
That photo at sunset/rise? looks awesome. Definitely unique look, pretty cool. I was in Oak Harbor last year and saw a blue ST driving around, beautiful place to live.
It was sunset on the sea plane base. I love oak harbor, but unfortunately i've only been able to come up here 6 months at a time for school. Last time was in the summer, this time in the winter.
The paint job really makes the wheels POP. I like it.
