So I know this is a pretty stupid post, but today I stumbled on a site for Palm owners that sounded a bit familiar to me... Then I realized that I already registered. In 2003. So, this would have been one of my earliest exposures to an online forum. I'll tell ya what, I'm really self conscious about my post quality but now I know how far I've come... haha

Holy crap, I had literally the exact same components that you did about 6 years ago. Down to the motherboard and everything. Freaky... (Oh wait, I actually had a X1800 GTO... close enough)

Weird!

Just saw Power Supply: Fortron 350W -- HAHAHAHA! Sad, that wouldn't even run my video card now.

Upgraded a few times since then though

Now Running:
eVGA P55 FTW
Intel Core i7 860 (1156) @ 3.8 GHz
eVGA GTX 570
8GB OCZ DDR3 @ 900 MHz

Getting the upgrade itch again though. Socket 2011 and quad-channel memory is calling to me...

Indeed. But for true nerdery acclaim, one must first configure and compile their own successful OS kernel. Through this, all things are possible.

In other news, I once ripped off several pins on my brand new CPU and connected together several VID pins with a rear window defroster repair pen. This was because I decided I wanted to upgrade from a .18 micron CPU to a .13 Micron CPU with more cache...but Intel said it was "electrically incompatible" (HAH!) with my older 815EP chipset motherboard. Still love booting up and seeing "Unknown CPU Type". Ran in my server 24/7 for 5 years and although now retired as a server it still works just fine even today. Boy did I prove them wrong. :thumb:

My first forum was generationedge.com before it died. I think I regestered there in 2002/03. Then moved over to ranger-forums.com and was one of the first members. I have since deactivated my account there, but I have some very fond memories of all the people I met and the awesome fun we had.

And, thanks to this thread, I now know who to go to for computer advise. I need to upgrade my video card soonish. Don't be suprised if I start asking for help. I may work on computers all day, but darned if I know what parts they are made of.

You guys are talking about forums .... I ran a BBS back in the early 90s.

Those had "forums" but we called them message boards!

Oh yes, BBS's! I remember tying up the phone for hours and hours to download games and other good stuff from some of the local BBSs, while rocking the 14,400 bps modem. Many hours were spend on Legend of the Red Dragon.

NOOOOOO, someone picked up the phone!!! 2 hours wasted! Oh, those were the days :D

Now the same games can be downloaded today in 3 seconds.
