For those curious about the production numbers I was able to get the numbers for the North American cars built at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI for model year 2013. This include cars built for the Canadian, US, and Mexican market as well as a small number of export vehicles, some going to places like US territories as well as Exchange New Car Sales (which is an AAFES/NEXCOM program for US military personnel stationed overseas or TAD/TDY (temporary duty) for over 30 days). For now I can't tell what if any of those are brought back into the United States, such as when military personnel return CONUS so I've tracked them separate. Some of the export cars will stay in their market anyways and should never return.

Additionally this should total all cars assigned a VIN to include pre-production cars that were built as early as January 2012. Those cars were used for things like internal evaluation, media/press cars, as well as the fleet used for the ST Performance Academy and Ecoboost Challenge drives. Some of the cars, likely those used internally were issued conventional window stickers between October and December of 2012 and sold at auction, some pre-production cars have continued being used in the Ecoboost Challenge, while others have already been scrapped and sold for salvage (and were likely the cars raced and driven hard for things like the ST Performance Academy). The numbers don't include any "body in white" cars that were never issued a VIN or prototype mules based off other/regular Focus trim levels (which would have a different VIN; there also probably weren't much if any in the US since the great majority of the development work was done in Germany).

To summarize production dates, it appears most of the earliest pre-production cars issued regular VINs were built starting around mid to late February 2012 with regular production starting around July 2012 and running through late June 2013. I've tried to cross reference the build dates of some of the cars against their window stickers and ETIS and it appears the ETIS dates are for the most part correct but I did see a few irregularities in the pre-production cars. Currently I don't think I can sort actual build sequence. For those that don't know, the car's VIN (vehicle identification numbers) doesn't necessarily indicate the order it came down the production line.

If and when Ford releases their numbers there's a chance they will be different since the automakers will sometimes split the markets differently, such as US and Canada separate and sometime US/Canadian totals combined. Ford may or may not include all the pre-regular production cars from earlier in calendar year 2012 in their numbers. With that said, the totals in this thread should be extremely close if not exact.

Lastly, I may update the thread with more info such as stand-alone options, deciphering where the export market cars went, etc. as I get time. If anyone is curious about something specific let me know and I'll see what I can do and/or get but probably won't work out the options/color/market and percentage of total build, for example to find "one of one" type cars.

Enjoy.

Thanks for posting this blackbird. It has been over a year now and my memory is not so great, but I seem to recall in the pre-order days that some Ford rep stated they were expecting to produce 10-15k for the NA market for MY 2013. Looks like they got that right.

Very cool! Do you know if we can drill down to packages by color? Would be cool to have the numbers similar to the SVTF.

Please do! Excited to know that I am one of 1153! If you look at how many ST2 with blue inserts there are, I may be 1 of 100.

I was planning on and should be able to scrub through the seat color inserts for the ST2 cars as well as the stand-alone options and what percentage of cars were built with them. I'll also try to get the color by package (ST1, ST2, etc.) for at least the US/export cars.

That would be awesome! I miss seeing the SVT numbers, especially the more rare Screaming Yellow and Comp Orange production numbers.

Even better! ST2 ingot silver with sunroof and blue inserts on the seats. Maybe one of 10

From what I've seen, the ST3 (w/m.roof & navi) is the most popular package, which kind of surprises me. I guess most people must feel "Hey I'm already buying a new car, may as well go for broke"

Definitely a unicorn car up here in Canada
I know the Focus ST is pretty expensive north of the border but when crunching the numbers I was somewhat surprised that deliveries to Mexico almost matched those to Canada given that new cars are also quite pricey down there and the per capita income is significantly less for a great majority of the population. With areas of high altitude the smaller turbocharged cars have historically been pretty popular and I'm curious if we have any Mexican members who can provide some insight about the car's popularity and how well they ended up selling.

First post updated. Added production numbers and percentage produced of each exterior color for each of the US market packages (200A (ST1), 201A (ST2), and 202A (ST3)). Also broke down the US market 201A (ST2) package interior colors for the partial leather/cloth Recaro seats as well as the interior colors for each of the exterior color 201A (ST2) cars.

BTW I hate you for your collection.
What, the massive amount of cars I don't really need? All but the ST and Cruze are paid for, most aren't worth much and I've had most for a long, long time and just picked up stuff over the years. Speaking of which don't browse evilBay, craigslist and autotrader while bored at night.

Wow, TB is the most popular color in the States. I have yet to see another one in the wild (though I saw one on one of our So Cal get togethers).

As I recall, the early target during the pre-order period, was 9,000 units. So they met that goal. Not bad for a manual only car in the US.

Nice work on the list. Kudos for the effort!
Like Frankenbike stated, the % for TB dont seem to jive. I have seen a few handfuls of ST's and only 1 other than mine was black.

It's nice having a relatively rare car. I should have kept my Kona. When I bought it new, it was the only one I could find exactly the way I wanted. "Dirt" paint, stick with full power. Only thing it was lacking was cruise control and I'm not sure if they made any from the factory with it. When looking, about half were auto and 99% of the stick were a different color or full manual controls. I don't recall if any had CC because it wasn't really on my list of wants.
