I think the only edge the Mazda has is the top-end power/torque numbers. And I imagine real-world it'll be very similar to the Ford. Both are essentially traction-limited through the first two gears anyway. The Ford wins in basically every other category, with better mileage, great gadgets, sweet seats, and driveability (at least in torque steer).
I suppose the Ford has yet to be proved out though. Time will tell!
