Looks and sounds like he had a good time, and in the end, that is all that matters. Nice little car.

I noticed that the colored trim on the headrest extended all the way around to the back of the headrest.

I'd like to see some official times for the Focus and Fiesta with a professional driver to get an idea where they fall in the pecking order of front drive performance compacts. I'm also curious if the stock brakes are up to the task of a track that length with speeds that high when combined with the torque vectoring.

It's neat to see Mr. Foust is impressed but as for the video it shows almost nothing of the car and how it behaves. There's a car following and then they cut to outside shots and it's not there making me wonder if they spliced in some in-car footage of him driving with exterior shots of someone else driving. Positive media for Ford = good. Actual video = meh.

FoMoCo Europe released a video last night of the all new Fiesta ST at the Nurburgring in the capable hands of none other than Tanner Foust! I know right! I am so excited to watch this little bruiser run around the ring and live up to all of the anticipation that I have for this little guy! The Focus ST is one of those cars that doesn't seem like much, but I know for a fact that several of the tuners cannot wait to get their hands on this lightweight platform.

Now to the video! I can only assume that you watched it long before you got to reading my mindless drivel, so I will merely echo that which is in your mind already... "Wow, so... Ummm... That was... weak." The video didn't even have an exciting soundtrack. FoMoCo took all the fun out of the whole thing somehow. They didn't have a script for Tanner to read which is nice, but he is no good at ad-libbing. Tanner's in-car commentary was limited to telling the camera what corner he was in, and "Oh my God, that is pretty fun." No wonder no one watched Top Gear USA.

The in-car footage was actually less inspiring than the commentary. It showed nothing of the performance capabilities. Nothing of the time. Nothing. No wonder it has 17,119 views. Sorry FoMoCo, this video was just not enough to legitimize the car enough for the unbelievers out there. I know that this car is going to be a fun car to drive, but that didn't even make me want to buy one.

Yes, I'm quite aware of the tracking sites but as I mentioned, to my knowledge there haven't been any official (as you can get) times or even ballpark numbers of the new Focus and Fiesta ST from Ford. I suspect because they might not have taken the car out or more likely that if they did the results wouldn't be impressive, but that's up to Ford to prove me wrong.
:)

As to this video of the Fiesta and Mr. Foust it does… suck. For comparison sake if you want commentary from a race driver, GM's John Heinricy did a nice job describing the car and track with the old Cobalt SS Turbo video here (and side note, this wasn't the record run at the time but on a different day when it was raining). If you want video production quality the Renault sponsored video of the current stock, front drive and hot hatch record holder Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy has a great video here of the car being thrashed around the track.

Come on Ford, stop the social media biased "look, we put a race car driver and TV personality in a car for a few seconds" and give the enthusiast something worthwhile to watch. If he's experienced with the track and can't talk while driving at a ten-tenths level then at least some good in-car and exterior videos of where the car is pointed and what it's doing. I don't need to watch a video showing the driver's seat, what's behind him, and some apparently spliced in exterior footage.

Yea not many know the SS was faster yhan the MK1 RS. I expect the new Golf R to dethrone the Renault. I really want to see the GTD lap times.

I don't know how they expect their video to go viral if NOTHING happens. Have they learned nothing from their Golden Child Ken Block?!? Come on Ford! You spent God knows how much money luring KB from Subaru, now use him in your marketing!

Ken Block might crash, Ford learned that from WRC.

Ken Block has promoted himself to the top with well edited videos. He shows moments of being really good in rally racing, he just needs to edit those moments on a consistent basis.

While I don't stand at the altar of Ken Block, I say that he pushes to the point that he will crash. Tanner Foust is a little too... nice. He is unoffensive, and that is not what I want to see in a tuner car. I want to see Ken Block, or whoever, pile it up in a corner and get out of the car laughing, or at least a smile on their face saying, "Holy Shit! That could have been bad!" as they stand next to a beat car. Maybe I am just desensitized, thank you "Jackass" and my Youtube for putting the world's eff ups at my finger tips. Tanner just doesn't look like the kind of guy that has broken the speed limit without a camera crew and a police escort.

Give me someone who is going to tell me that the car was at least fun! Not, "Wholly smokes, and gee wiz!" followed by a "Whoohoo" and a fist pump. Come on Ford!
